Phan - The runaway - Part: 16

Phil POV

Phil was loved in the school, both by teachers and fellow students. Even Dan became better friends with the teachers, when he did his homework from time to time. He enjoyed the normal life, or fairly normal life.
As Christmas came closer, Phil became more excited about it every day, he was supposed to celebrate it with Dan and Ms Howell, but Ms Howell was forced to work at Christmas day, so it would be just him and Dan, and for some reasons, Phil felt really nervous about it.
Christmas Eve went by, and when they went to bed Phil couldn’t sleep, his head was filled with thoughts, it’d been an amazing day, like every day in the past two month he’d been friends with Dan. Phil couldn’t stop thinking about the other boy, he was on his mind every day and every minute. Dan made him happy, and he never wanted to leave him again, never. He fell asleep with a smile upon his lips, even if him and Dan would never be a couple, they could still be friends.

Dan POV

Dan was wakened by Phil who ran into his room “morning!” Phil almost shouted out, and chucked himself next to Dan in his bed, Phil was still in the PJ’s they’d bought last week, and his hair was still curled.

“Morning” Dan answered and rubbed his eyes before he checked the time, it was around 10 o’clock. Dan laughed at Phil, his love and excitement for Christmas was so adorable, like everything else about him.

“C’mon Dan, let’s open the presents!” Phil said and grabbed Dan’s arm to pull him out of bed. Dan giggled and followed Phil into the living room.

“What about some breakfast first?” Dan asked as he tossed himself at the couch, Phil shook his head as answer and pulled out a gift from underneath the three.

“Here, I’ll give you mine first” Phil sat down next to Dan in the couch and gave him the present, Dan looked at it and smiled at Phil when he took it. He wondered what it could be, he unwrapped it to find stuffed llama, a box of maltesers, and the new videogame he’d wanted like, literally forever.

“Thanks” Dan said and pulled Phil into a hug, he instantly wanted to hug him tighter, and never break apart again, but he knew he couldn’t.

“I wasn’t completely sure what to give you so” Phil confessed and blushed slightly, Dan felt like melting inside, Phil was so adorable.

“It’s fine, I love it!” Dan answered with a cheeky wink and a huge smile before he got off the couch to find his present for Phil.

Phil POV

Phil felt warm and safe when Dan hugged him, he wanted to stay like that forever, and never let go, but after a short time Dan pulled away again, Phil felt himself blush and looked down.

“I wasn’t completely sure what to give you so” he said and blushed slightly again. Dan smiled and declared his love for the present, he gave a huge smile and a cheeky wink which made the butterflies in Phil’s stomach flutter around, and grow in number.

Dan got off the couch and found a present under the tree, he hurried back to Phil and gave it to him with a cute smile. Inside the present were a stuffed Pikachu, and a pullover. Phil gave Dan a huge smile, he didn’t own a lot of clothes, and the pullover was really awesome.

“Thanks!” Phil laughed, and gave Dan a hug, again he didn’t want to let go of Dan, but he didn’t want Dan to feel uneasy so he let go again and gave him another huge smile. Dan laughed, he was amazing.

“You want to watch a movie?” Dan asked after they’d been talking for a while.

“Sure, do you have any suggestions?” Phil answered and got off the couch to find a movie.

“Hmm... what ‘bout Inception, we can also watch Death Note or High School Musical?” Dan said with a laugh, while Phil looked through the giant DVD collection.

Phil laughed “High School Musical? I’ve actually never seen it, and if I have, I can’t remember it..”

“Then it’s High School Musical!” Dan said.

Phil smiled, and found the movie, wasn’t it a romantic movie? He blushed slightly, how could watching High School Musical make him blush? But it wasn’t the movie, it was the person, and he knew that. He put the movie on and sat down next to Dan at the couch.

Phil didn’t really watch the movie, his head was filled with Dan again, he’d never realized that his feelings towards Dan hurt before. No, it wasn’t the feelings, it was the fact that he knew they wouldn’t be together, if only Phil had been a girl, than him and Dan could have a happy ending like Troy and Gabriella. But he was a boy, and so was Dan.

Dan sang along with every song, and at the point of the movie where they sang ‘Breaking free’ at the stage, Phil couldn’t bear the thoughts anymore, it hurt, it hurt to be in love. Treacherous tears overflowed his eyes and ran down his cheeks, Dan suddenly peeked at him, and his smile turned into a painful and worried grimace.

“Phil? What’s wrong?” He asked slightly panicked and pulled Phil into a hug, Phil sniffed his shoulder, he smelled great, but the scent of him only made Phil cry more, he was so warm and amazing, why did it have to be this way?

“Phil, please, tell me what’s wrong?” Dan said again and looked at Phil with begging eyes.

Phil looked him deep in those beautiful hassle brown eyes, the eyes that saved his life, and the eyes he fell in love with in no time.

“It hurts so much, love hurts Dan, it hurts...”
